2024 Symposium Keynote Speaker

We are thrilled to announce that the keynote speaker for our 2024 symposium will be Captain Randy “BB” Tashjian. Captain Tashjian will be providing a presentation titled “Safety Success in High Threat, High Risk Environments”.

Captain Randy “BB” Tashjian retired from the United States Navy in July 2012 after
spending 25 years as a Naval Aviator flying the FA – 18 “Hornet” and “Super Hornet”.
“BB” d id multiple tours of duty in Lemoore, CA and 2 tours in San Diego, CA. He is
originally from Visalia California. He attended Fresno City College prior to acceptance
into the Navy flight program in 1987. While on active duty, he completed a college
degree program through Embry – Riddle Aeronautical University earning a Bachelors
Degree in Professional Aeronautics. During his final tour, he earned a Masters Degree in
Global Business Leadership from the University of San Diego.
Throughout his career, “BB” served in a variety of job s focused on safety and leadership.
His specialty was in the training arena and transferring his experience and expertise to
others in order to improve the environment that Naval Aviators operate in. He was a
pioneer in the most successful training program that US Naval Aviation has implemented
to date, the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program. He is a two – time graduate of
TOPGUN and was the Commanding Officer of Strike Fighter Squadron Twenty-Two
flying the newest FA – 18 Super Hornets in the navy at that time.
“BB” operated in extremely high risk and high threat environments throughout his career
flying on and off America’s aircraft carriers. He flew extensively off CVN – 68 USS
Nimitz, CV – 64 USS Constellation, CVN – 7 6 USS Ronald Reagan and operated from CV –
16 USS Lexington, CV – 6 1 USS Ranger, CVN – 7 0 USS Carl Vison, CVN – 72 USS
Abraha m Lincoln, CVN – 73 USS George Washington and CVN – 74 USS John C Stennis
Upon retiring from the navy, “BB” wanted to continue to impart his wealth of knowledge
and expertise in safety and leadership to others operating in high risk, high reliability
environments. He accepted a position with Check – 6 as a human performance coach and
consultant. He spent three years on both offshore and land – based assets. “BB” has
worked with various drilling companies on many different projects and rigs in the Gulf of
Mexico, one of which received the distinguished title as “Rig of the Year” during the
time the time he was onboard. “ BB ” also worked with multiple companies in the
California oilfields mentoring and training their personnel and business partners. “BB”
has a significant amount of experience teaching, leading and mentoring leadership level
training along with coaching high level safety awareness training in various industries.
His aviation background once again called him back to fly and he has been flying in
corporate aviation for the past 8 years. He is the chief pilot for a large farming company
flying all over the west coast and into Baja Mexico. He has accumulated over 11,000
hours of flight time in his 40 year aviation career.
