President’s Message – October 2019

Posted: Oct 04, 2019

Greetings,

We had a great September and we hope you did too! If this is your first President’s Message Blog you’ve read, scroll down and check out previous blogs. ASSP has numerous networking and learning opportunities to offer you and your team.

September Chapter Meeting

We were a packed house at last month’s Chapter Meeting with 43 attendees! Lieutenant John Reynolds gave a fantastic technical session on active shooter events. When first responders are minutes away, seconds count when you are in an emergency. Through interactive videos and discussion, we learned how to become a survivor and not a victim in an active shooter situation. Lt. Reynolds provided us with a sample Active Shooter Response Plan that can be found on our website at: https://centralvalley.assp.org/files/ under the Presentations Section. If you didn’t get a chance to see his presentation, you will have another opportunity at the Professional Development Conference on October 16th.

Hello Fellow Safety Professionals!

I want to thank everyone for following this blog! My goal is to keep you all up to date on current events and let you know about the opportunities you have to learn and network with a group of great people!

August Chapter Meeting

Last month, we kicked off the 2019 – 2020 year with a Networking Event at the Fresno Grizzlies Stadium. The event was home run! (pun intended!) 24 attendees had a great time getting to know each other with a game of Networking BINGO! The BINGO cards doubled as raffle tickets where Nestor Perez won Fresno Chaffee Zoo Tickets and Carl Morello took home a Starbucks gift card & mug, respectively. Our host, Kyle Selena, Group Sales Manager for the Fresno Grizzlies, was instrumental in making the Chapter Meeting a success. We all received stylish Grizzlies hats and a fun tour of the stadium. After the tour, we watched the Grizzlies outperform Tacoma Rainiers in a 13-5 WIN!
